CoaguLife Pharmacy accredited by the Joint Commission.

By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety, CoaguLife Pharmacy has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. CoaguLife Pharmacy, which provides specialty pharmacy services, received the accreditation award after The Joint Commission found that it had demonstrated compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for home care organizations. The on-site survey occurred in September 2007.

"In becoming accredited, CoaguLife Pharmacy was evaluated against a set of national standards by a Joint Commission surveyor experienced in the delivery of home care services," says Gina val Zimmermann, senior executive director, Business Development, The Joint Commission. "Achieving accreditation demonstrates CoaguLife Pharmacy’s commitment to provide high quality and safe care to its patients."

Daniel Kallberg, President, says Joint Commission accreditation shows that "we make a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down. We seek accreditation for our organization because we want to be the best and we view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward excellence."

He notes that accreditation is attainable only through the cooperation and communication among staff members. "Everyone here at CoaguLife Pharmacy plays a valuable role in working to meet the standards. I think it gives them a feeling of prestige to work in an accredited organization," says Kallberg. "They also appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the opportunity to interact with The Joint Commission surveyor."

CoaguLife announces partnership with Accua™

CoaguLife announced today a new partnership with the ACCUA™ Advanced Fitness Training© facility to create a state-of-the-art fitness and rehabilitation program for the benefit of CoaguLife clients and the bleeding disorder community.  The ACCUA™ facility centers around the HydroWorx® 1000 therapeutic pool which features a unique submerged computer-controlled treadmill and variable resistance hydro jets to provide a safe, virtually impact free, aerobic resistance training experience.

This type of training is uniquely suited to addressing the complications commonly seen with hemophilia such as target joints, arthritis and joint tightness.  The buoyancy and the resistance provided by the water make this the most enjoyable and the most intense workout available.  "The progress made by the patients I treat who have hemophilia has been incredible" says Jeffrey Kallberg, PT, adding "the rehabilitation potential from this equipment is life changing".  Kallberg is spearheading the creation of the cooperative program to be located in the new ACCUA™ facility soon to be completed in Savage, MN.

One patient comments, "I can’t say enough about what the HydroWorx pool, combined with Jeff’s coaching, has done for me!  I went into the program after my health started to take a downward slope.  I was losing my freedom with bleeds and chronic arthritis, and was frequently on crutches as a result.  After just a few sessions I began to see results.  My strength and coordination started to increase by leaps and bounds, the muscle structure around my arthritic joints was no longer inhibited by the pain gravity inflicts, and my all-around attitude improved from the ability to have a real workout.  Today I can walk, run, bike, and my number of bleeds has dropped drastically!  I feel good!"

The program will combine the rehabilitation services of Kallberg with aquatic therapists, personal training and dietary guidance to provide for a whole body fitness and wellness experience.

For more information on the program contact jeff@accua.net.

CoaguLife donates boat to Courage North

Courage Center’s Courage North summer camp is the happy recipient of a brand new pontoon boat this spring thanks to a generous donation from CoaguLife. This summer, hundreds of kids attending this summer camp in Minnesota’s north woods will have a little more fun thanks to the new boat.

CoaguLife is dedicating to community responsibility. It is important to us to be a responsible corporate citizen, donating this boat is just a small piece of that. CoaguLife chooses to give where there will be a direct benefit to the community. It is also important to see beyond just those with hemophilia, there are plenty of other kids who could use a little fun at Courage North. All of the kids, whether they have a hearing impairment, Asperger's Syndrome, or hemophilia will be able to enjoy this donation.
